The Escape Artist and The Teddy Bear

For a dog that cannot see well, my dog Itsy is the queen bee when it comes to escaping. I cannot seem to figure out how to keep her inside the fence. How is she able to find all the tiny holes when she can hardly see enough to walk in a straight line? All she does is turn in circles except when she seems to be escaping. It is quite the mystery. I think she should have been a cat rather than a dog. But the one good thing is all the neighbors seem to adore her. So at least there is that. She is using her escape skill to make new friends. They all seem to adore her as do I. At least my other dog seems to prefer to follow me around like a love sick puppy rather than escaping to meet all the neighbors. I don’t have to worry about him so much because the only time he lets me out of his sight is when he chasing a squirrel. He is a loyal little teddy bear. I wish I was the one to name him because that’s what I would have named him, Teddy. He is so soft and snuggly. So I guess I have 2 dogs but one is an actual dog and the other is a cat in a dogs body. These two little things do provide some fun entertainment.

We as humans all have very different personalities, quirks, skills, and interests. We are all so unique. Just like my 2 little dogs are so unique and different. I think God made us this way because he finds joy in our diversity. I think he finds joy in his creations all being unique and different. It is rather beautiful. Similarly we all have different ways of expressing our love, worship and devotion to God. For God knows our hearts, minds and intentions. He knows when we sleep and when we rise. He knows way more about each of us than we even know about ourselves. I think God cares way more about our heart and intent behind our actions, praise and worship than how good it sounds or how good it looks. We humans judge based on a number of things that do not even really matter but God judges based on the heart. For pure worship and devotion comes from a heart submitted, obedient and reverent to the Lord on High. Psalms 51 has been a passage of scripture that has spoke to me for a number of years. For it is a reminder of how we as humans allow God to creat in us a pure heart so that our worships and devotion to him is pure. For when we come to God in humility and ask for him to wash us of our sins through the blood of Jesus we are able to then receive God’s strength and renewal of our spirits. It is through this process our hearts are transformed. Much like the kneading of dough until it is all leavened. God through his spirit kneads our hearts until is is all leavened. The result is a heart devoted to our Lord. And what a beautiful sight this is to see. So I pray that God would work in each of our heart, kneading our hearts to creat in us a heart devoted to him so that our worship would be pure. Amen.

“Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me. Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight; so you are right in your verdict and justified when you judge. Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me. Yet you desired faithfulness even in the womb; you taught me wisdom in that secret place. Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones you have crushed rejoice. Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquity. Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.” Psalms 51:1-12

  1. My dog too is much like the Teddy Bear, and very much like the Escape Artist. She is oh, so loving when she want’s to be. But her little game of escaping from me is exhausting and frustrating! Sometimes joy in our lives is like that. When its there it is the best. When it is gone, then there seems to be no reason for living. We must realize that everything changes constantly. What may bring us joy at one time may bring us regret at another. Without God as our steady anchor we just might drift away into oblivion. God alone in the person of Jesus Christ is the ONLY hope for this dying world. And whether we live or die is His decision/will for us either way. Don’t EVER think otherwise. Never lose hope. Never just give up. Persevere, as best you can, until that last day comes. Believe in the Second Coming for IT WILL COME VERY SOON now! We have all lived through the worst of times, whether it was then, 2000 years ago when Jesus Christ lived, or now with the Antichrist alive and well. I love you all in the love of Jesus Christ, come what may. Timothy
