Tumblers Available For Purchase Here!
Each tumbler starts out as a simple stainless steel double insulated cup. I first spray paint the cup. The cup then is attached to a spinner that slowly rotates the cup in a circular motion. Resin is applied to the outside of the cup and the spinning allows for the resin to self level creating a glass like finish. A variety of ink, paint, glitter and tools are used to decorate the cup. This is the basic process for making these hand painted tumblers. The trick is the cup has to be on the spinner. Otherwise the resin will not self level rather the resin will run off the cup creating ripples and blobs. Similarly how fast the spinner is rotating is important. It has to spin slowly.
The process of making the tumblers reminds me of how God molds us. After we become Christians the work is not done. Rather the work is just starting. Becoming a Christian is like putting a blank stainless steel tumbler on the spinner. When we are baptized in the name of the father, Son and Holy Spirit we become a new cup. We have a blank slate. Just as I use a variety of things to decorate these cups and a variety of tools to make the design, God uses a variety of things to mold us. What is most important is that we stay connected to Jesus through practicing repentance and faith. When we stop practicing repentance and faith it’s like taking the tumbler off the spinner before the resin cures. The cup will be ruined. Just as the cup has to remain on the spinner we must remain connected God through Christ.
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.” John 15:5-6
